Citrus and other fruits were shipped to market in wooden boxes and it did not take long for advertising to appear on the sides of the boxes. Many different fruit wholesalers and farm combines had their own label art and the labels are now avidly collected. These labels were most popular from about the turn of the century to the 1950's.
